Take it from a lifetime Cecil Countian
by John Mackie, ELKTON, MD
In 2014, as a lifetime Cecil Countian, I decided to step into the political arena and run for the Maryland House of Delegates. Being new to the Republican Party, but a person of conservative values, I was pleased to receive many votes.
During that campaign I met three remarkable people, Jackie Gregory, and Kevin and Danielle Hornberger. My connection to the Hornberger family goes way back. I vividly remember “Onions” Hornberger who wrote for The Cecil Whig and also owned a sporting goods store in Perryville. My father, Jack, knew “Onions” from their service time during World War II. My first baseball glove and catcher’s mitt was purchased from the Hornberger store. I cite this background because I have come to know the Hornbergers very well.
Now springing forward to 2020, I think Cecil County is suffering from the Corporate Oligarchs, PACs, and special interests that have taken over our county. Taxes upon taxes are not moving our county forward.
For this reason I humbly urge those voters from 2014 to support Jackie Gregory and Danielle Hornberger as they strive to reverse the tax and spend mentality of the current administration. SAVE CECIL COUNTY!
